Layne's hanging:

So here we had a Mad Men dichotomy: a synbol of giving life in Sally's story, and the taking of life in Layne's story.

The forged check: Not the first time the name Donald Draper has been forged. Kinda hypocritical of Don if you think about it. Don's whole life is one big forgery, oh the irony.

What was so interesting to me was that I think the reason Don reacted to the forgery the way he did had nothing to do with company business, it's that he can't let Layne doing something illegal with something Don is already doing something illegal with, the name and all that comes with it. And if Layne were to get caught, there's a possibility Don could also therefore be outed.

There was a lot of examples of the idea of identity stemming from that. " The next thing will be better because it always is". So Don, and his own identity. Also, "I've started over a lot".

Also given how Don reacted to Layne doing this, this isn't the first time it therefore had a weak soul committed suicide by hanging in reaction to Don.

Remember the complaints about Jaguar, apparently they don't start in damp weather; and of course Layne can't start the car.

An osscure line was Sally to Glann, I'm not sure I like you that way. That was her showing she actually listened to Megan's boyfriend advice...
